About 30 years ago, my wife was diagnosed with primary pulmonary hypertension and given 3-5 years to live. Our doctor sent us to an expert who happened to lead a department at Babies Hospital in NYC. We had to go there weekly and they put her through targeted exercises and walking for hours each time. The hardest part of it all was seeing all of the children whose lives had barely begun walking around or being wheeled around with all kinds of devices attached to their little bodies. We often cried for them on our way home.
My wife was lucky as the expert downgraded her condition to secondary pulmonary hypertension and she is still alive.
Those children may not have been so lucky and our hearts ache to this day for them.
Tom, I am married to a brain tumor survivor (35 yrs) who had an injury to his facet nerves during brain surgery in 2009. Raising our 3 young boys felt like it took more than what I had available during those 10+ years in recovery. But I had God. We had God. We had an amazing Boy Scout troop and youth group that helped tremendously and provided male role models and activities that kept them learning and growing. Prayer with our boys individually and together taught them who we can trust and lean on no matter the circumstances. Your wife Annie, I'm sure, is teaching them endurance, resilience and strength and the power of prayer (you also no doubt). Friends, family, God, and the body of Christ, prayed for Tom and our family (even as we struggled) and helped us to never lose hope because through it all the Lord was with us and taught us his power is made perfect in our weakness. I am praying for Annie and your family. Be patient (so difficult) but through all the work/study you do, you will also need respite. Remember to take time alone with Annie and with each of your sons individually. I know, time is finite. These moments will be the memories each recall years from now. Family too but people are unique and remember most the personal bonds that strengthen each of them. May God bless you and give you peace amid this journey and throughout the in depth study and writing that you do for the American people regarding the last 5 years of awakening. We are listening, reading and living a new day for our children and grandchildren. We will not be moved or sidelined.

May God have mercy on them!
Maybe both parents are working double shifts to pay for the treatment.
